Five Favorite Perennials

There are a lot of different types of perennials to choose from when starting a garden or deciding what perennials to use in your landscaping, but here are my top five favorite perennials.

1.     Butterfly Bush
The butterfly bush is a perfect perennial for so many reasons. For starters, it attracts butterflies like no other plant does. Also, the color of the flower is a vibrant purple that will grab anyone’s attention.

2.     Roses
Roses are classic flower that everyone knows and loves. They come in many different colors; from red, pink, and yellow as the most common, but they also come in crazy colors like coral and orange. Roses are a must have for anyone’s garden!

3.     Hydrangeas
I see hydrangeas as a rose with no thorns. They also come a good amount of colors too. The most popular colors are pink, blue, and white. They are a great shade plant too, only requiring 4-6 hours of sunlight a day.

4.     Burning Bush
I like to say burning bushes are the plant form of chameleons. They remain a nice green color through spring and summer, but when fall comes they become a bright burning red that is beautiful to see. They are also very easy to take care of; no pruning, and little to no watering is needed when they are established into the ground.

5.     Rhododendrons
Rhododendrons are like a more hardier hydrangea. Like hydrangeas, they are part sun and come in many colors too. Purple, red, and white are my favorite colors that they come in. And the best part is that they bloom spring, summer, and fall!

Those are my top 5 favorite perennials; Butterfly bush, Roses, Hydrangeas, Burning Bush, and Rhododendrons. My criteria for picking these perennials mostly came down to what colors they produce. Let me know in the comments what your favorite perennials are!
