Plants in the Midwest

Living in the Midwest is great but the one thing that I wish was different here are the native plants that naturally grow here. Unlike sunny Hawaii, the plants here are very bland and boring. Looking out of my apartment right now the only plants that I can see are landscaping plants like boxwood and lilac. Last weekend I went rollerblading on the trail right next to my apartment and the only plants that I was saw were cutleaf coneflower. To give you a visual, they look like oversized weeds. They especially look like weeds now because they are out of bloom because they bloom from July to September. Not to mention that there is an abundance of corn everywhere. Everywhere you turn you are very likely to only see corn for miles. I know that the Midwest isn’t able to control what grows here, but I would love to live somewhere that has native plants that don’t look like glorified weeds.

Image result for hibiscusHawaii on the other hand has very gorgeous looking plants that grow naturally there. For example, hibiscus grow naturally in Hawaii. I see hibiscus all the time at work. Their bright reds, yellows, and orange is always a pleasant sight to see. The only problem is that they die in the winter here in the Midwest. Another plant that grows naturally in Hawaii are Lei flowers. These plants look just like roses but with a little touch of Hawaii. And depending on what island you are on they come in many different colors. From red to green to even silver! I just wish the Midwest had beautiful flowers that grow naturally all year around. In the comments below let me know what plants grow around you naturally.
